Spicy food is typical for Thailand. However, for tourists there is often the possibility to request non-spicy.

Curries from Thailand

Thailand knows many different curries, and we listed some of the best known ones that you should definitely try! Moreover all curries can be made either with meat (chicken, pork or meat), tofu or with only vegetables, so it is also a great option for vegetarians. The curries are the best in combination with rice.

Massaman curry

To start with my favorite; Massaman curry. Massaman curry is not a very spicy curry, compared to the other Thai curries. It is a red colored curry filled with potatoes and cooked vegetables (often onion and pepper) and peanuts. There is the choice to add meat to it, but without meat the meal is also very tasty.

Green curry

The Green curry consists of much coconut milk added with fresh ingredients and a green curry. This curry can be ordered in almost every restaurant, and even though the ingredients most often are the same, they all make it a bit different, so the taste differs per restaurant.

Red curry

The Red curry is the most spicy curry, which includes red peppers and other vegetables. Moreover this can be added with the choice of meat or tofu (just like all the curries). My advise for you is that if you are not used to spicy food or you do not like spicy, order this dish first non-spicy, because then it is already spicy enough!

Pad Thai

Pad Thai are stir fried noodles with tofu, eggs and tamarind paste, which is mostly added with shrimps. This is a typical Thai dish which can be found in many local Thai places, but which you can prepare yourself as well.

Fried rice from Thailand

Fried rice is a simple but very tasty Thai dish. It consists out of rice, egg and vegetables. Then there is the choice between meat (pork, chicken, beef) or shrimp. However, it is also possible to choose neither of those, which makes the meal also suitable for vegetarians. It is often served with some pieces of cucumber and lemon. Very cheap and tasty and a real must try!

Fresh Fruits from Thailand

Last but not least; all the fresh fruits in Thailand, which can be found everywhere! Also there are many places where they sell fresh fruit shakes.
